Every night.
The Islands. Clear blue skies, white sand and a comfortable breeze.
Hand in hand, dress blowing softly in the wind and “Say Cheese!”
Performer on stage, music in the air and their feet bare.
The wind blows her hair into his grinning face as he pulls her close, ecstatic that she’s the one he chose.
Her name was Olivia, his Nathan, and She was his soul.
She fit perfectly into his frame, someway- somehow making him whole.
But suddenly her laughter was carried away in the wind.
He stared at her face and realised there was something wrong with her skin.
She slowly faded away-
His panic something he could not keep at bay.
Nathan realised this was a dream- again. He didn’t want this to happen- not today
So he stretched out his hand and begged his heart to stay.
But this happens every night.
See- every night he wakes up in a cold sweat, in utter fright.
It happened every night.
When the stars illuminated the sky and the moon tries not to cry.
It happened every, single, night.
When the darkness enshrouds his heart and tries to tear him apart.
He awakes and turns to her.
He awakes from his bitter sweet dream to hear her softly breathing.
He stares at her shapely silhouette and tries to keep his heart from bleeding.
It happened every night.
He dreamt about when things were how his heart wanted them to be-
Back to when he woke up and saw who he wanted to see.
Abigale. This woman’s name was Abigale but she’s all wrong-
And her spirit not as strong.
Greater love surely awaits,
So why fall victim to this bait?
He’s in like with her- of course- she’s great
But he knows- he knows that this person will always only ever be an inaccurate duplicate.
